If you are reading this right now you are most probably a mother.A tired , sleep deprived mother(or even a father-your wife is a lucky woman I tell you), who has tried everything and is here to find if there is anything new that you can try to get that active toddler busy and tired. So no other talks and let’s get straight to the things that you can try!
1. YOUR TODDLER IS THE BOSS, MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE ONE!:
Most of these little humans post crossing 18 months milestone love to get things their way. They love being in control too and as they grow older they enjoy taking responsibilities. ROLE PLAYING is your best friend here! Stock up on doctor sets, doll houses and even a doll stroller to keep them busy and active and away from the screens.
2.LET THEM ENJOY OTHER PEOPLE’S TOYS AND GEARS:
Yes! Don’t buy a lot of these fancy bicycles and cars and other gears as most often then not these kids don’t use them much. INSTEAD, take them out to a park or an open space where they are more likely to bump into some good soul who will share their stuff with them.See them tire themselves out on other’s things for quite some time and hey, they make new friends!
3.THINK OUT OF THE BOX AND IN IT TOO!
Those rectangle plastic dabbas are what you need to purchase. They not only help in keeping all the toys and crayons etc organised but kids love to empty and put things back in them so there you have a minimum of 10 minutes to yourself! (Oh 10 minutes is a luxury!)
4. IT’S THE 21ST CENTURY,LET THEM MOVE IN THEIR OWN HOUSE:
Before you close this tab shuddering at even the visual of your little one grown up and moving out, relax.
For now just give them their own corner /tepeee/tent for they love to have a cozy personal space .I understand most houses today with their space crunch don’t really allow for such luxuries but I too have done it and am bumping into that tent each day but it makes me happy to see her spend time with her doll family in there while I can peacefully block some ‘frandship’ messages while sitting peacefully on the sofa with the girl not pulling my pajamas.
5.PREPARE THEM FOR A ‘MAIDLESS’ FUTURE:
Going by the hard time maids give us today, it won’t come as a surprise to us if Indians began doing everything by themselves in the future. Why not prepare our little ones to be self reliant?
Just hand them a clean cloth and watch it go dirty as they scrub that chair ,wall and floor.Once in a month at least, go all out by keeping a water bucket and a cloth and let them clean their toys and cars and tricycles.
They keep busy, learn a few skills and the toys get a wash too!
And for this task you can still make use of the maid to help around😛.
Let me know what you think of these ideas and also do share what activities you people engage in please!
